Re: My first project to be
$500. i got some questions about it too. think it has a 350 or 307? also what should i do, restore it to stock, or lift it a little and put some other add ons like power brakes and steering? heres some more pics of it.

Re: My first project to be
I'd start out with giving it a good douche inside and out, get it running and safe by first going through things like the brakes.
Throw some good rubber on those wheels, get the interior and the electrical squared away. Then stand back and stare at it for hours and days, while thinking about your financial and time budgets. Spend some time on here, learn from others and you should develop a good idea on where to take your project. I have no idea what cubic inch motor you have in there, other than it's a small block with rams head exhaust. You can start your investigation by getting the numbers stamped on the front of the block right where the head mates up to it, get those numbers and post them here and we will try to give you an idea what it is as far as year and place of manufacture. Maybe a little more?

Re: My first project to be
ya i dont have it yet. i have to go get it and my freind with the trailer is on vacation and wont be able to get it for 2 weeks.(its gonna kill me) my plan for now is to do the body work, rockers, what the floor needs, cab corners, and get it into primer. the deal with my dad is that i have to keep it running till next spring since he wants to use it to plow with this winter. but once that gets done and i should have a good job next year after school so i want to get a new bed floor and make the bed look nice. i guess it runs mint and has a 2 barrel carb. think a 350 would have a 2 barrel? my friend cant find the numbers and isnt gonna crawl all over it for me. lol. o well ill just have to wait. im pretty excited tho i got the LMC catalog and classic industries and i have been wanting a project for a while now, and then i found this.

Re: My first project to be
Your truck has a 307, if it's the original motor in the truck. The 307 was the base engine and wouldn't say it as an option on the spid sheet on the glovebox door. Trevor

Re: My first project to be
As some has said....the #1 priority would be to make it a safe driver. Then as you drive it safely then you can decide the next step.

Re: My first project to be
Gotta agree, $500 would have it sitting at my house too - nice purchase. Looks pretty solid. That has the Rockwell T-221 transfer case, and speaking from experience, they don't like to get low on gear oil. The front output is really high up and if you get low on gear oil it will eat the bearings.
Enjoy the truck and keep us posted on what you do to it. If and when you have 4x4 specific questions, be sure to come to the 4x4 subforum as lot of good people hang out there and can help.

Re: My first project to be
ya the bed is HAMMMMMERD on. but for 500 bucks, worst comes to worse i make it a flat bed. but i figure it will be worth it to find a different bed or buy the floor panel and the wheel wells from lmc or somewhere else. it will take a while but the result will be worth it
