what is this for?
I pilled this off a 71 truck with a 350 in it. What is it for? It was in the front of the intake. It has two hose fittings at the top, and is solid at the bottom that goes into the manifold.

Looks like the temp activated vacuum switch, most likely for the heat riser valve in the stock air cleaner snorkel.

thermal vac switch never had one on my 71 but seen alot on 74 on up thermostat housings and intake manifolds

Later model piece that is smog related. 72 down did not use that unit.
