Re: ball park!!

I gotta say, I was right in line with knsmodels' estimate. Of course to pay that money you need to give it a very good look over. Check for bondo, and it would be best to have another person who is into these trucks look at it too. Sometimes when we want something we don't look at things as closely as we should.

Re: ball park!!

yes, that's an eaton rear... 4.10 is the best you can hope for in gearing.
In new york, i would think it could go for a tick more than they said above, but only if it is as clean as it looks in those photos.
It hurts to say this, but I would pick a 442 over that even if the truck was worth a bit more, but that's me personally.

Re: ball park!!

I like it, but it depends on if where you are at and what they are worth there. It looks complete, clean interior and inside of bed. its worth as much as your willing to spend. I paid less then 4k for my shortbed 4x4, and have since put another 11k into it. so you see what I got for 4k and what I have for 15k. keep in mind I have 1000 hours into this truck not including time spent on the internet doing research or driving all over the state looking for a bracket. I say for that truck with all those goodies it has, it maybe is worth around 8k. Alot of my time was spent swapping parts and restoring parts that were either broken or completely missing. I kind of wish I would have found a better starter truck in the 7k-8k range like the one you are looking at, but its to late now.

Re: ball park!!

heres a list of things I see:

it has a brake controler, so how good is the tranny and the rear end from the extra ware and tare?

wood grain by dash light is ripped.

horn button missing

whats the lever right by the parking break? choke?

roof lights are they sealed good? if not water inside down through corner of cab and rots the plenum and floor side post area

should there be matching wood grain on glove box?

does the a/c work?

we need a pick under the hood

is that oil under the truck on the differential?

tilt column, sweet!!

are the rear shocks air shocks?

Matt

Re: ball park!!

Being its in New York, I'd say around $10K too, if its a real cheyenne. Location is key, out west and south you could find some cheaper. Its not new, its 38 years old so there is going to have some issues. I'd check out under cab condition good to make sure it was fixed right. Also a pic of spid label would help

Re: ball park!!

awsome info guys! its very clean under hood , A/c Compressor is missing! the rear is an eaton with 411s. i would say that someone has done some swapping b/c there is a z bar bracket on the frame... this would indicate it was originally a 4 speed correct? are these locking hubs correct for 3/4 ton? hate to see the olds go but im looking for a new toy!

Re: ball park!!

If that Olds is as clean as it looks I think the Olds is worth more than the truck.

Re: ball park!!

I'm sorry but that is not a 12k truck. If mine was for sale I would be stoked to get 15k for it. You need to pass on this one or sell your car and buy the truck for $6800 or so, no way on 12k for that truck.

Re: ball park!!

need to see more pics of the 442 but I am leaning towards it being worth more than the truck.....it will also appreciate more than the truck....if you really need a new toy sell the Olds and buy yourself a truck...jmho

Re: ball park!!

5-7 grand for the truck. 8-10 for the cutlass.

I would never get rid of that 442! Alot easier to find a truck to restore or restored than it is to find a 442 in that shape.
just my .02
