Removing Ac
Most of the AC componets from under the hood of my 73 are missing. The only thing left is the large box and dryer thing hanging on the fire wall. Is it a major operation to ditch that and just put in the standard heater housing and heater core? Last but not, if I cannot remove it, what needs to be hooked up on it for my heater and vents to work proper. I see there is a round black Vac. pod mounted to it. Does that need to be hooked up to something?

i don't know about the vac. pod thingy, but mine is in the same boat as yours. My heater and vents work just fine. You don't have to redo your stuff it should work anyway.

check your vac lines under the dash. that may be why your vents are switching, and make sure the vent is hooked up, i have seen a lot of these trucks where the large piece on the passenger side is missing.

Thats kinda what I was wondering, is how can they switch if there is no vac from the engine to the under dash parts. The black pod thing monted under the hood looks like a vac distribution thing.

Here is the vac thingy. Does this need to be hooked up for the venting to work proper or is it just for the ac.

just ac if your truck has mech. inside kick pannel vents. disconnect it and see what happens, if it dont work, hook it back up!

The inside vents in the kick panels are vac operated, not manual.

I figured as much. So do I hook it strait up to any sorce or is there a check valve or anything that goes in line?
