Need 6.2 Info
Hey guys, I found a truck that is almost identical to mine with a 6.2 diesel in it for $1,800 o.b.o. I am wondering if I should consider it because its a 6.2 and it has had dually adapters put on it. I'll get the pics up later this evening. Curious to know what kind of MPG you 6.2 guys are getting also.
Thanks Benjamin.

Re: Need 6.2 Info
looks pretty rust free which is rare for something that old in this state. what are your plans for the truck? as long as the interior is in good shape, I think I would offer about 1500 and drive the wheels off it.

Re: Need 6.2 Info
a 6.2 actually gets pretty good mileage i had a 87 suburban with 32" tires on it an got around 17 or 18 miles to the gallon with 3:42 gears. it is also the same motor i plan to put in my crewcab dually. it is no power house but it does have good pulling torque.

Re: Need 6.2 Info
I found an odd 6.2 at a parts store. It was a GMC, 87, 6.2, auto OD, SWB!, black with red pen stripes. The guy bought it for towing and work. I hated to see a combo like that being worked to death. The truck would make a great daily driver.

Re: Need 6.2 Info
Dually adapters? is it not a C30 factory dually?
24mpg on my 87 half ton 6.2 700R4. But I drive like a little old lady. And the one you're looking at is probably 4.11 gears and TH400. So figure 15mpg, stil great for a dually. Be aware that a 6.2 is like a weak 305 powerwise. Not really a tow machine.

Re: Need 6.2 Info
Well guys, if I am able to get the truck, it's being converted back to SRW, the bed is coming off and it's recieving a flat bed, and it'll recieve stacks. But, money is too tight for me to have 2 trucks, so I may not get it.

Re: Need 6.2 Info
I'd be fairly certain that is not a factory dually, it was added on at some point in its life. The bed fenders do not appear factory, and it's missing the lamps on the tailgate. The clearance lamps on the roof were added as well it looks. Trim also sort of gives a hint to it being a SRW at one time.
Slick truck though. Donate the camper for a tax write off and make it look a lot better. |
