Need head info
I wanted to know if its possible to put lt1 heads off a 96 impala on a 74 350 sb? If so do they bolt right in or what would i need to do to get them to work? And is this a good head or what would work better? Im trying build a 383 on a really really tight budget so im diggin for some good deals and i found those lt1 heads. Any info would help to push me in the right direction...thanks.

Vortecs should but you have to change your intake.

Re: Need head info
vortec heads for an avg. increase of about 40-70 hp over stock gen 1 heads. But the advice is correct, you've got to change the intake to accept the vortec heads.
plenty of solid advice on this here forum. ha ha.

Re: Need head info
Alright so now i found some inexpensive vortec heads but they are the 906 casting. I heard that you should stay away from these that they are worthless and then i hear that they are good that there isnt much diffrence power wise from the 062's. So can someone clear this up for me please. If they are okay how can i beef them up to get some good power out of them? Thanks.

Re: Need head info
any 96 up vortec head is a major upgrade from your stock heads. really the only thing u have to do is minor machining to the guide area for clearance if you run a cam bigger than .480 lift. if your cam is smaller than this, bolt them on with the correct intake (center 2 holes on both sides are different) and your good to go.
