Just wondering-Is the year of your truck have any significance?

My 1970cst was manufactured the year I graduated from High School. It's a fully loaded BB C10. If my truck was a Muscle car...I could not afford it now nor could I afford it when I was 18 years old. Did I buy my truck to match the year I graduated from High School...nope it just worked out that way.

Come to think about it-many of you were not even thought of in 1970.

Re: Just wondering-Is the year of your truck have any significance?

Even though this is something no one wants to think about it, there are probably some board members who were concieved in one of these trucks. Now that's significant. Anyone here born between 1967-1972?

Re: Just wondering-Is the year of your truck have any significance?

I was. My truck and I were both born in 1970, and while I like the grill the best on the 69-70, I purposely looked for a 70 for just that reason, we share a birth year.

Re: Just wondering-Is the year of your truck have any significance?

Heck, I never thought about anything like that when I bought the last two trucks. I just stumbled into both deals.

If I bought one for the year I was born it would be dang old and if I bought one for the year I graduated from high school it would still be dang old compared to the 67-72 trucks, lol.

Re: Just wondering-Is the year of your truck have any significance?

I was born 73 but one of my earliest memories is my grandfathers green 72 longhorn fully loaded from the pics I see of me sitting in the driver seat. (all of 3 years old) Guess I was born a year too late

All of them in that era are about the best trucks ever made. The 71-2 are better as they have disc brakes & heavier steering components.

I was locked up in jail for drunk driving before most of you were born. Thanks to Jesus I am now getting high on him, and old cars, and trucks. Life is better sober.

Re: Just wondering-Is the year of your truck have any significance?

Other than finding a unique truck for our area (), it is significant that my FIL returned from Vietnam during '69 and once he returned he picked up a '69 Chevelle SS 396 (new), a '69 El Camino SS (new) and a '69 Triumph Bike. In 2009 I picked up a '69 CST SWB and just this year he picked up a '69 SWB as well... I think we've started something.

I graduated from hs in 72, therefore grew up in Musclecar Era I. Bought it because I like the looks and relative simplicity of them.

Re: Just wondering-Is the year of your truck have any significance?

lol, I was born in '82, and my wife would kill me if I even thought about getting a c10 built the same year I was born. She says they look like wife-beater trucks. I think the 73-87 are pretty nice looking if well-maintained and kept somewhat stock.

But I like my 1970 cst best.

Re: Just wondering-Is the year of your truck have any significance?

it has a Lot now,... when I saw it I was a fairly new Dad,and new homeowner.
I thought I could use it to haul homeowner stuff around and it looked kinda cool.... I looked at it. within about 5 minutes was going to cash machine to get 100$ cash to hold it till morning. next day drove it home. on way home decided it would make good Father/Son project. ..... it has become my Son's truck and has not hauled much homeowner stuff yet

other significance is that 2 of my Brothers have 1967 cars. one is a 67 Firebird 400. baught new. the other is a 67 Mustang GT Fastback baught new.

I had a 67 GTO in 10th grade Highschool 1980. ... 4speed/AC/Disc brake car that I sold in 1984 for 400$.... how much maryjauna does a Midwest 20yr old farm kid have to smoke for that to make sense? ....glad I quit that stuff.

anyhow.... back to 2010. ... I am going to race the 67 Cst against my brother's 67 Firebird sometime this summer. probably at Eddyville IA.. his car has been a Drag car since 69, so he will have to give me a little head start.
I just need to get a towbar for the trip and unhook the driveshaft for the trip to IA.... I got 2 new motor mounts and new carrier/hanger bearing to put in before or after I get there.

the 67 Cst's have grown on me and become my favorite.

thanks for listening. .... life is interesting and good, kent
