By "need new inner brackets" do you mean I need to make them or buy them somewhere.

Re: Junkyard score

You will need to buy them. Outer brackets are the same, but the suburban inners are totally different and can not be used on a truck.

You should have snagged that "FUEL INJECTION" emblem. They are high priced new and hard to find on ebay and such, at least in good condition. You would think an emblem on the back of a vehicle would stay fairly chip free.... but for some reason they don't.

Re: Junkyard score

I know the rear outside handle is different on those suburbans, compared to the front doors, yet every one I see in a salvage has it removed.

I feel for ya Gmt, I see so many of these conversion 'burbs with interiors for sale, it ain't funny. You need to come to the states for a month or so. Get here, buy an old Uhaul cargo box truck, and start making the rounds and packing that thing full of goodies! Then have the entire box shipped back. You could put a chair and a bucket inside it and lock yourself in, save a plane ticket that way! (don't ask what you would need the bucket for)

Re: Junkyard score

Nice score!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I remember what a PIA mine was the take off @ the junkyard. Took me and a buddy about an hour and half. We had to get them to jack up the back so we could get some leverage with a 24" piece of pipe on top of a ratchet. This is all in about 6" of water when the snow finally started melting up here..............oh what fun that was

Re: Junkyard score

It took me about an hour and a half, weather was nice about in the 80's compared to last week we had upper 90's..there was a hornet nest right under the rightside, so I blasted it with wasp killer and blasted the mounting nuts and bolt with penetrating oil..made the job real easy. Also no wood stuff- inside
I'm going back to the same burb and pull the heater box, and also the rear gears- says it has 3.73's!
