67 68 trim install need help

hey guys, does any one have a truck 67 72 chevy ,or gmc swb fleet, that didnt have trim, and you put 67 68 trim on, well, i need any pics for drilling the holes, what you used, and step by step of install if anyone has a or knows a thread that has this or has any pics please show

I have a manual with the measurements and the instructions are long and boring, but nonetheless informative. I'll bring the manual home with me tomorrow and try to scan it for ya. The cab holes were a pain cause the body line makes it look like the holes should be drilled higher than what they should be, but in reality the holes have to be made about a 1/4 lower than all the measurements and "eyeballin" that I did. I used 3/4 inch tape to lay out the top and bottom where the trim should be then measured the trim from the top and bottom to the center of each bolt. Make sure all of the trim brackets are installed the same way! Make sure all of the body lines are straight before the install also! Start with the fender well trim peices over each tire and then it will help you line up the side peices from there. Use your best judgement on hole placement on the doors because factory hole measurements line up with the braces and tracks inside the door, so if you move the hole an inch or so in either direction it will make life much easier getting to the nut on the bolts inside the door.

Agree with what Slick67 said... Make sure your body lines are straight. The wheel arches are pretty much set - Not much you can do to change them. Then I laid the top out with 1/8" tape, measured down to the holes and drilled them out. Initially I drilled a hole that just barely fit the bolts but it makes it a pain to get the trim in so on some of the latter pieces I went with a slightly larger hole. Don't worry about being exact with the hole location... I had a few that I drilled too low and "stretched" them with a die grinder after a test fit. My clips came from Early Classic and the center of the hole was 28mm down from the top of the trim (the top of the trim on my truck ended up about 1/4" below the body line.

It is a bit time consuming but not too tough all in all. It took me a bit to build up the nerve to drill the first hole but after that it went pretty smooth. Here is a picture of the finished product.

well thanks guys my dad has his 70 custom/10 and when he bought it it had a flatbed but we went and bought a bed a lwb fleet with trim to match the truck and we havent installed the trim but are the holes the same on the cab corner as a 67 68 trim if so then i can measure the holes and drill them on my 67

oh and also the holes for the door are takin care of look at my thread called ''is this a good price'' that should tellya about my door situation
