What is this?
I've been hunting down wiring problems and have found this little gem. I've switched over to an externally regulated alt. When you do that conversion, you connect the white wire to brown wire. I ran the white wire to my alternator. This thing is on the brown wire, half way between the firewall connector and where it clipped into the external regulator. I am unable to get current to flow through it. Does it need to be here? Is this causing my headlight problems? Inside the cab, this wire goes in two directions: 1) to the ignition 2) to the gauge cluster connector. Can I remove this? Anyone?

Is that a fuse holder. If so, I'm thinking, it's for the voltage meter in the dash. There should be one just like it running along the other fender to. I'm taking a wild stab here, so....

Take it out and see if you're getting juice thru it, Maybe it's just a fuse. Try and see. If not you can just put it back in right?

It doesn't look like the original fuse holder, but by your description, it's in the correct wire, and location to be the inline fuse for the ammeter. It "should" pull apart to replace the fuse, otherwise, bypass it to see if your electrical problems improve.
