DJM 3" spindles and 15" wheels

I have 15" corvette rally wheels in 5x5 pattern and installed DJM 3" drop spindles. I have a clearance issue with the top caliper mount. It rubs the inside of the wheel. Has anyone else had a similar problem? Can it be ground down just a bit or do you need larger rims?

Grounding down will fix it no problem.

Re: DJM 3" spindles and 15" wheels

I've had to grind down the top of all the DJM spindles I've used. Take a little off at a time until the wheel fits. It won't hurt a thing.

Re: DJM 3" spindles and 15" wheels

I am using a 15x6 wheel in the front will this interfere with a drop spindle?

I am running 15 x 6.5 van rallies and they rub a little at full turn. FWIW

Re: DJM 3" spindles and 15" wheels

I ground it until I didn't feel comfortable. So I got some 20's on craigslist. problems solved. I just told the wife that I needed new wheels to make my truck work...

There's plenty of material to grind. I can't believe you don't have a clearance issue with the lower a-arm, or maybe you just haven't found it yet.

Re: DJM 3" spindles and 15" wheels

I keep hearing everyone talking about the lower a arm clearance with dropping these trucks. I've lowered 4 of them with djm spindles and different drop coils with multiple 15x 7 and 15 x8 Inch wheels and never ran into this problem. I have had to grind some meat off them to clear a wack set of aluminum wheels though.

Re: DJM 3" spindles and 15" wheels

My 7" cragar stars with 4 1/8 bs didn't have any trouble with 3" spindles, but when added wilwood d-52 calipers I had all kinds of problems so now I will be running 15x7 88-98 steel wheels for now till I can afford some 17 or 18 TT2s

Just drop'd mine with 3" Belltech's and a 1" spring. I'm rubbing like crazy! First I clearanced the lower control arm as much as i could for the aluminum wheels, but that didnt cut it cause they were hitting the lower ball joint. So i put on the 15x8 rally's. No the rally still hit at full turn. sux! Working on issue as i type...

I would like to see some pictures of your truck after you lower it. I have the same wheels to put on after I lower it. At least until I can save up for 20's. Curious what it looks like.

The Ride Tech (formerly ART) strong arms are not cheap, but they are extremely well constructed.

1973-1987 Chevy C10 - StrongArms Front Upper-$400.00

1973-1987 Chevy C10 - StrongArms Front Lower-$600.00
