Shakedown run on new build

Went on first real drive in my just completed (well, almost done) truck yesterday with Chris (Powell72). We drove about 45 miles north to Cheyenne and stopped to check everything. Everything looked good so we continued north to Chugwater Wyo. for lunch. Still looking good at that point we went east on a desolate 30 mile stretch of highway. The only other vehicle we saw was a single grain truck. We then turned south to return home. Ended up being just over 200 miles. Have a couple of bugs to work out, but everything is looking good. Next is our trip to Bonneville in 2 weeks with a couple other buddies Here are a few pics of the truck and the scenery we enjoyed. Last pic is of a few grasshoppers we picked up along the way.

No grasshoppers on your hood. Lowering is great!

Your truck looks real nice, and you got it done in time for some summer cruising - I'm envious!

Nice shakedown, and what a beautiful truck!

Any specs on it on the board? Lowering? Wheels?

And most of all, more pics?????

Has an ECE 4/6 (I trimmed a bit off the front springs), 6 lug steel GM 15x6/15x8 wheels. Basically just freshened stock stuff up and some mild mods. such as the lowering, disc brakes, and a few engine/exhaust upgrades.

Great looking ride, but I can't understand how you can say you got the bugs out of it.

Re: Shakedown run on new build

Brett's truck turned out great, it's tight and quiet and goes down the road effortlessly. The drive was a great way to spend a Saturday, I think our biggest complaint was he doesn't have the AC hooked up yet! The ride to the salt will be fun.

I'm glad his truck is finally done, I'm sick of being the one aways cleaning bugs off!

Re: Shakedown run on new build

Ya know....if you spray some Pam cooking spray on the front of the truck before you hit the road, the bug will just hose right off. My Grandfather used to do this on his trips from DC to FL.

That is a great idea. Normally bugs are not much of an issue around here, just happened to catch prime time for a bunch of nervous hoppers on the road.
