Re: New one in the family!!
Here are a couple other pics showing some before and afters of the top trim done. That dent is driving me nuts, it's really the only dent on the whole truck. Looks like I could bump it out or suction cup it out a little.

Re: New one in the family!!
The hubcaps that were on it when you bought it are original. They are the only ones that came on highlanders. They also came on monte carlos. Just thought you might want to know since you are trying to keep it original. BTW, sweet truck and i'm jealous. As you can see, I love highlanders.

Re: New one in the family!!
That truck is a beauty! Nothing like an original engine bay and highlander seat cover. It's cool to hear that your nephew wants to keep it original.

The truck turned out great. Can you get your arm up inside the bedside to pop that dent out? |

I didn't realize when I found it that it was a Highlander but it sure was a sweet find. He'll keep this truck for years to come and surely some of his freinds will want one too!

Re: New one in the family!!
Thanks Heath!
Craigslist! Finding them this clean is even hard in Texas. I was really excited when we started looking at it. Took about 5 seconds to say "This is it".

Re: New one in the family!!
Dangit. My nephew's truck is getting more attention from me than my truck is?!?!? But hey, it's lookin good!
I yanked out the grill, grill support bracket, fan, fanshroud, fan pulley, condenser, windsheild washer bottle bracket. I also pulled the headlights, headlight bezels, and headlight buckets. I cleaned it all up with soap, water, and degreaser. This is the before shot.

Re: New one in the family!!
After cleaning it I taped off everything and started sprayin. Everything came out nice so let it dry and started reassembly.
Got the condensor back on and the headlight buckets and rings after cleaning and painting them. Also installed the painted fan and pulley, new fan shroud, and water bottle bracket. Here is the result after about 4.5 to 5 hours on it. The grill still needs to be cleaned and some touch up paint done.

Re: New one in the family!!
Original Quote from slick67: "I was not sure they were stock but did the research, and it payed off. This truck is so original and clean that my brother and his son have decided (with alot of input from me) that this is not the vehicle to drive to highschool. Thank God!!! The kids there are idiots and would tear it up. He is going to buy him a clunker and keep the truck at home."
That's good because the trim and whatever they can grab will be gone. Nice find! Last edited by BlackTopMotors; 08-20-2010 at 10:21 PM. Reason: Forgot to quote |

Re: New one in the family!!
Finally got the grill cleaned up, painted the eggcrate, cleaned the bowtie, polished the headlight bezels, painted the trim around the headlight bezels, and bolted everything up today. Looks like a 15 footer to me!!!! But it was a 50 footer a month ago........
