Re: New one in the family!!

Here are a couple other pics showing some before and afters of the top trim done. That dent is driving me nuts, it's really the only dent on the whole truck. Looks like I could bump it out or suction cup it out a little.

Sweet I might stop by tonight! I won't have my truck of course because I only have a rolling chassis but I'll look for you!

Re: New one in the family!!

The hubcaps that were on it when you bought it are original. They are the only ones that came on highlanders. They also came on monte carlos. Just thought you might want to know since you are trying to keep it original. BTW, sweet truck and i'm jealous. As you can see, I love highlanders.

It was good to meet you at the show! We'll have a little more done to it by next weekend, maybe you can make it then too!

Oh yeah, we know. They are going to be put on occasionally when we take it to show like tonight. We were just running the rings on it tonight but we'll swap em out. Didn't know they were the same as MC caps but now that you mention it I do recall them on a red MC that we had at a trim shop that I worked at years ago. Dude, thanks for the memories! I gotta start a Highlanders thread!!!!!!

That truck is a beauty! Nothing like an original engine bay and highlander seat cover. It's cool to hear that your nephew wants to keep it original.

The truck turned out great. Can you get your arm up inside the bedside to pop that dent out?

Thanks LEEVON! I was kinda proud that he said that too. He does want to buy some rims for it later but wants to keep the others for shows.

Nope, tried that, next step is a pry bar. A little time and patience should get it out enough to make it look better.

Thanks JRBECK64!! I didn't realize when I found it that it was a Highlander but it sure was a sweet find. He'll keep this truck for years to come and surely some of his freinds will want one too!

Finding them this clean is even hard in Texas. I was really excited when we started looking at it. Took about 5 seconds to say "This is it".

After cleaning it I taped off everything and started sprayin. Everything came out nice so let it dry and started reassembly.

Got the condensor back on and the headlight buckets and rings after cleaning and painting them. Also installed the painted fan and pulley, new fan shroud, and water bottle bracket.

Here is the result after about 4.5 to 5 hours on it. The grill still needs to be cleaned and some touch up paint done.

This truck is so original and clean that my brother and his son have decided (with alot of input from me) that this is not the vehicle to drive to highschool. Thank God!!! That's good because the trim and whatever they can grab will be gone. Nice find!

All the parts are in the shop and we have a 8ft fence all the way around the property so it's safe. But I know if it's not nailed down someone will claim it!!! Here is a pic of me working where the truck is sitting now, the fence conceals well! Plus the neighbors are really cool too.

Oh, gotcha now. My quote didn't pop up in your quote till I refreshed. You are right, it would be dinged, dented, keyed, and other things if he drove it to school. Unfortunate because it is a nice school with many boneheads that go there.

Finally got the grill cleaned up, painted the eggcrate, cleaned the bowtie, polished the headlight bezels, painted the trim around the headlight bezels, and bolted everything up today. Looks like a 15 footer to me!!!! But it was a 50 footer a month ago........
