87 Sierra Horn Relay Block
Dear Everyone;
The relay block(believe it has 3 in it) that has the horn relay(and a couple others) in my 1987 GMC Sierra V15 4x4 is just kinda floating around in the space behind the dash(not attached to anything), as it was removed from where-ever it was originally mounted, for some wiring work by a previous owner. If anyone has a pic or could take one and post it of where this thing is supposed to be mounted, it would be appreciated, I figure it should be probably mounted somewhere in the vicinity of the fuse block but can't find a mounting point for it. The Relay block has two screw/small bolt holes on tabs on opposing corners. Thanks in advance. Dave |

Re: 87 Sierra Horn Relay Block
I will take a look tonight on my 87 sierra and see if it is the same.
I do have a question for you on your 87, if you have A/C can you get me a photo of the A/C comp. brackets as I am trying to figure out what is different on my non A/C truck vs one with A/C, i.e. engine pullies, etc. Thanks, Randy |

Re: 87 Sierra Horn Relay Block
sandorjoben, I'm just a little confused on what you're looking for really. You say it is behind the instrument panel/dash? Not under the hood? I have a few here that are 87+ two wheel drives that I could get photos for, if I knew exactly what you were looking for. I'll climb under the dash with a drop light and look closer, but was not really seeing what you were talking about.
Buick455, here are some shots of my 87 w/ 350 TBI and the A/C compressor, hope they help. Can take more if you need. My bracket was mod'd a little for the headers, but the last photo shows it unmolested.

Re: 87 Sierra Horn Relay Block
If what I am looking at under the dash is the horn relay is is just to the right of the brake pedle on a metal bracket with one screw holding the relay mount and the other edge is under a lip on the bracket.
RandyP, Thanks for the photos. It looks like my waterpump pully is the same as your but I only have one v on the engine pully and on the power steering pully and my power steering uses the v next to the alt belt which your comp. uses that one. I wonder is the inner engine pully just fits over the one I have? Thanks, Randy |

Re: 87 Sierra Horn Relay Block
If I were adding A/C to an engine that never had A/C, I'd use the opportunity and put a true serpentine setup on it. Nothing like a good excuse.

Re: 87 Sierra Horn Relay Block
I think what you're talking about is the door lock relay and it mounts to the right of the brake pedal. It has to be mounted to work. It grounds through the casing when it's mounted

Re: 87 Sierra Horn Relay Block
Ok, I think I see what you're talking about. But, that's going to be hard to get a good photo of! Here is about the best I can do, and this truck really has nothing in the way, just a bad place to try and photo.

Re: 87 Sierra Horn Relay Block
This looks like the same part you posted, is it to the right or left of the brake pedal where it's mounted?

Re: 87 Sierra Horn Relay Block
The black bar on the left of the photo is the brake pedal, perhaps this photo will help more since I know it is what you're after. You can see the brake bar on the left, and the gas pedal as well, should put it all in perspective I hope.

Re: 87 Sierra Horn Relay Block
Which one of those is the horn relay? I am guessing it is the white box in the upper left corner?

Re: 87 Sierra Horn Relay Block
In Randy's pics it is the white box, and in my pic where I'm holding the block in my hand it's the black box with the white writing, anyways it's a small 1"x1"x1"cube with if I recall correctly 3 blade connectors.
