truck #34: somewhat rare?
I bought this 70 this week. It is a C-30 model 31004. It is a one ton with a 9 foot step side bed and single rear wheels. This is the first 31004 I have seen. They are not too popular, but for $150 I could not turn it down!!

Damn, that thing IS long! $150 is a steal for that truck. I can't seem to find a good parts truck in worse shape than that for $300 in my area

I like it! would rather have a fleetside.
Unfortunately, it does not have the abillity to claim longest stepside made. IH made 11ft and longer stepside beds (as well as the 9 ft etc lengths) 11ft stepside... that just sounds really really wierd. With a 9ft I'd probobly be looking for a longhorn bed, just because I love longhorns! The 9ft stepsides are 133" just like the longhorns (longhorn is only the fleetside model). All 67-72 1 tons are 133" or longer wheel base trucks so they are either longhorn, 9ft stepside (no name), or chassis cabs. Are you intending to fix it up or sell it? |

I've seen a couple of them when I was in Texas.
it is not a longhorn, just a one ton step side, 3505 One ton steps in '70...that's not too bad. Way less than the 3/4 ton longhorn production numbers for 70. I know where you can get a longhorn bed if your interested. Oh, and the caddy engine is a good idea too! |

I like it!! you can sure see the extra length compared to the 8 foot bed, I have been looking for one of those for a few years now and just found one a couple weeks ago. Hopefully I'll get to go take a look at it this weekend, the only bad part is this guy claims he has over 250 67-72 trucks at his place....that could take awhile.

Randy, give me a call sometime and I'll give you the scoop on this guy, he also has machine sheds full of parts, he's wanting to move out of state and is looking for someone to take all or part of it, Oh! and he's only about 45 miles from you.

How about....
.....hanging the engine behind the cab, in the bed? Wouldn't that be special? Maybe just different.
