I'm not sure if I've got the right section or not, so mods please move if I'm not. I am looking to see if there is anyone on here that does widening of factory steel wheels. Preferably someone that does this on a semi regular basis, and maybe something close by since shipping would be rediculous. Sacramento, San Jose, maybe even Reno areas?

We know of a guy who used to widen GM Corvette rally wheels for road racing from Kansas. If you want I can see if he is still around. Most competitent machine shops can make the rings and widen them.

try stockton wheel and pete paulson wheels i believe both in california

based on all the hub-bub lately over on the HAMB, I would probably stay away from Stockton wheel. But Pete Paulsen still get's great reviews.

I think Eric Vaughn did widening on steel & aluminum wheels. He widened some alum 15x6" TorqThrust's to 8" for me to use on my '93 x-state trooper Mustang back in 98. Most places would prob just cut the center out of the current wheel & pop it into a different wider rim (or 'barrel') for cheaper than it would cost to splice two halves together.

What type of wheel? How wide?

Basically I've got a set of stock GM pickup steel wheels, and I was looking to make a pair of them 10" wide. I've done some looking, and it really seems like I will save a lot of money just buying a new set. The people I did get in touch with were all pretty much saying with the aftermarket companies making so many re-pop wheels, it just isn't cost effective anymore to do the work to widen a wheel. Thanks for the info though guys, it really did help.

cost me $50 a wheel plus shipping to a sherwood race in NY shipping was pretty cheap too I think I have less than the price of 1 new wheel...check out my build you'll see them in there...mine are 6 lug steelies that I had made into 12"...one thing I learned is I should have had him move the back spacing 1" also so I could tuck the 31x18x15's too!! maybe this winter I'll send them back to him

new 15x10 wheels cant be that much... shipping plus widening > new wheel thats already been produced ... if you do a search theres a dude with a baby blue 2wd blazer that has 15x10 on all 4 corners.. nice looking.
