2" soon to be 2/4 drop on 17s

I'm lowering a friends truck, last night I got the shackles installed and ran out of time (started at 12:30 finished at 3:30) having to remove the hitch and work around the exhaust ate up my time.

The truck is a 95 Extended Cab Silverado. The tires are 255/60 and 275/60 on 17x8 and 17x9.5 Vision wheels. I neglected to get backspacing but when I finish the drop I'll measure it then.

My friend bought 3" springs for the front and a shackle hanger kit for the rear. We're not going to use the 3" springs, with the tall front tire we only need a 2" drop so I'll cut his stock springs and use the front 3" springs to raise the front of my truck to a 5" drop.

I'll update when I finish the drop. Right now the rear is leveled with the shackles so far I think it looks great.

Looks better for sure, But he may want to hang onto the 3" springs. It's only a matter of time before he decides to go lower......

Nice, I really like those wheels. What did you use to take out the factory rivets on the hangers?

Haven't taken out the rivets yet, however when I do I'll use a 4.5" angle grinder with a thin cutoff wheel. I cut the heads off the rivets and hit the hanger with a large hammer to knock it off. Then punch the rest of the rivet out of the frame. I've used this method taking the rivets out of a 53 Ford F-100 and a couple other trucks I lowered and so far it has worked well for me.

The wheels are made by Vision, they are a knock off of the Boyds Timeless. They were on a 99 S-10 I bought off a used car lot. They are 5x5 bolt pattern but someone put on the S-10 with adapters.

Couple more pics. I had the truck Sunday to weld in some d-rings to the bed floor and weld up the holes where the drop in bed liner was screwed down, a spray in liner is in the plans. Hopefully I'll get the truck this weekend to finish the lowering.

My '96 Silverado was that same color combo, and a 3-door with leather and all the bells/whistles. It was a nice ride.

400,000 miles ago this was a nice truck. It's a little beat now, my buddy used it for sales calls and bought it off another traveling salesman. Now he runs a route and uses a Dodge one ton, this truck is the Sunday go to meeting truck. I keep trying to get him swap with me, I need the extended cab.

3" dropped coils, shackle and hanger kit. Because the leafs hit a bed support I only lowered it 3" in back. I'll cut and box the bed supports later. The guy that owns the truck has towed an 8000 lb trailer with no problems.
