Re: classic 15" rims or 17" or 18"

You're gonna get all sorts of preferences depending on who you ask. Ponder it for a while...look at as many trucks on here as you can and once you get it pretty sure made up in your mind...go for it and stick with that decision. You'll kick yourself for changing your mind at the last minute.

Good grief, I sound like my old high school counselor.

Wynne, nice truck. Can you tell me what the backspace is on yours? I'm going with the same combo w/ 17x8 fronts and 17x9.5 rears but I'm still not decided on the backspacing.

Re: classic 15" rims or 17" or 18"

The rear springs are pretty simple to put in, but if yours have never been removed, you will most likely have rusty bolts to deal with. I added shock mounts and an adjustable track bar, but it's really not neccesary for 4" drop springs. I just wanted to be able to go lower if I wanted without having to go back and change that stuff later. I used dropped spindles in the front with stock springs, and it was a big job, but pretty straight-forward.
My front wheels are 17x8 with a 5" backspace, and my rears are 17x9.5 with a 5.5" backspace, but if I had my choice, I would go with a 5" back space with a 9" or 9.5" wheel on the rear. I have the wider ('71-'72 style) rearend, and the inside of my tires is very close to rubbing my wheel tubs.
