Re: 292 Almost done! Sneak peak pictures!
What have you done to the internals? Any power estimates? I'm thinking seriuosly of keeping my I6 and turboing it just to be a little different than going the standard sbc route.
Thx M5 |

Re: 292 Almost done! Sneak peak pictures!
DLOE65, what shop did you take it to? Is it just a rebuild or hop up? Is the price reasonable 'cause my 292 may get a rebuild soon, looking for a good shop and Irvine's not too far. Here's a shot of my grease monster...

Re: 292 Almost done! Sneak peak pictures!
Dig it! The green looks wild. I wussed out and painted my 250 chevy orange, but my 292 is up next and this may inspire me to go a little wild.
What ignition is that?

Re: 292 Almost done! Sneak peak pictures!
Hey guys, thanks for the comments!
This is a full ground up overhaul, I am building this to drive everyday so everything has been replaced. Here's what I got in it so far.. Bore 30 over full rebuild kit with pistons, gaskets, etc... Clifford cam ( hydraulic lifters, new pushrods, valve springs) fully rebuilt head polished crank, balanced engine offy 4-barrel intake holley 390 langdon stovebolt cast headers langdon stovebolt mini HEI kit Santa Ana Speed Center in Santa Ana, CA did all the work. They did a awesome job and they are very reasonable. -Derek |

Re: 292 Almost done! Sneak peak pictures!
What's the advantage of the mini-HEI over a stocker-type HEI? Space?

Yes, not as big and bulky as the other hei's also it runs a external coil, which all the replacent parts you can get at local autoparts store (which is good since I want to drive this badboy everyday.) if you call stovebolt he will explain it in detail, he's a cool guy.

Re: 292 Almost done! Sneak peak pictures!
Is there any chance you could make that a little greener??? Very nice Engine Rebuild. Are your rims going to be the same color?

Re: 292 Almost done! Sneak peak pictures!
Yeah the wheels will be the same color with some nice radial white walls, the truck will be painted hot rod flatz camo flat brown, when I get home tonight I'll post pics of my truck and the truck I'm modeling. I'll have more engine pics on friday hopefully with the headers and billet side covers on.

Pretty eye catching!
What green is that? btw: The area between water pump and thermostat needs painted, it will still be visible when engine is assembled. Pete |

Re: 292 Almost done! Sneak peak pictures!
DLOE,
CHECK THE FUEL PUMP! It mounts upside down on the 292 !!!. If you turn the engine over like that you can cause damage! Look at coffin's picture, or google for 292 pictures...

Re: 292 Almost done! Sneak peak pictures!
nice...looks like you have a pretty solid truck too, & i like your plan...my old '93 fullsize/stepside Chevy had a flat paint job & lime green steelies with moons & trim rings....yours should look great....let me know how you like the Hot Rod Flatz, cuz i'm thinking about using it on my '66 in the future

Re: 292 Almost done! Sneak peak pictures!
Will do! , I'm going to order a sample quart of it tomorrow and do some test painting with it to see how it comes out. I'm curious how it holds up, can't seem to find anyone that's painted with it before.
