Mystery to Me !
I've got a '72 250, Monojet. Sometimes I'll be driving along and all of a suddden it will pop and then start missing and run rough for a little while and then smooth out and run normal.................? ? ?

anytime ive had these kind of issues it been a fuel proablem, filter pluged for a min or what not would check out your fuel system to make sure its flowing clean

Pop out the muffler means unburned gas, so that's probably an electrical problem. A pop from the carb-intake usually means a timing problem, maybe from loose points or something in the distributor.
Just intermittent misses could be fuel delivery.

last time i had any kinda back fires through the exhaust my resistor wire was grounding out to the exhaust. check your resistor wire and see if its touching the exhaust(the wire running from the post on the starter furthest away from the block)

I figured it was condensation in the tank or bad gas............I ran a bottle of Heet through it ! We'll see if that works !
