Re: the pinion shims shakes
CPP has them in 1-4deg. Not sure if anyone else has them, but if you order through CPP be sure to call Jeff and tell him you're a member here.

Re: the pinion shims shakes
yes, cpp is one of the only places that carries them. you can go online and find people that make shims (for 4x4 and racers), but the price is about the same.
i am running 2" drop blocks, so i had a buddy machine the right angle on the block if you do find a place that carries them cheaper than CPP, please post that vendor on the site. |

Re: the pinion shims shakes
Just an idea, could you take normal pinion shims, cut the bolt hole slots and make them work? Shim might be a bit small, but might work.

Re: the pinion shims shakes
The best thing to do is take it to a driveline shop and have them tell you what angle you need. I don't know of any right off hand. I do remember seeing an ad on the counter at Performance Products. Give them a call and see who they recommend. 865-689-4700

No dont guess the angle. Google the topic. Thats how i taught myself how to do it. you will need an angle finder. its pretty simple to do. Here is an angle finder at home depot for $8...... http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/...367&marketID=3 If your angle is off, it can cause driveline vibration and it makes it easier to snap the ujoint when you really get on it. Re: the pinion shims shakes
This is the guy you want to talk to in the post, wont cost an arm or leg either. The shims he makes are smooth. Also, I got a small digital angle meter from harbor Freight that worked perfectly. Read the post.

Re: the pinion shims shakes
Thats actually the same perosn i found online that i almost bought my shims from. I think he quoted me $40-50 for the set.
I ended up having my drop blocks machined to the angle i needed for $20. When you lower the truck, you throw off the pinion angle. If your running a bagged truck you need to set the pinion angle at your ride height, and understand that your going to throw you angle off when you raise or lower the vehicle. thanks, smitty, for posting that up for everyone else that runs into this. |
