Converting to front discs? What all is needed?
What all is required for the older trucks to convert....other then the spindle, bearings and seal, dust shield, rotor, and caliper? And of course the right distribution/proportioning valve.
I think I recall that the front upper control arms and ball joints were also required? And the lower control arms and ball joint on the earlier 1/2 ton trucks will work with it? I want to put together a kit for someone out of the perfectly good parts I am removing from my truck.

Thanks Vet but scanned over all 4 pages and that didn't help. I guess I should be more specific.
What is needed from a '72 GM 1/2 ton truck....to upgrade a '67-'70 GM 1/2 ton truck from front drum brakes to front discs? I have everything available (from spindle to dust cap) except the lower control arms but thought that they (67-70 and 71-72) were the same? And...if the crossmember is the same... then the upper control arms and the spindles to dust caps w/calipers should be everything? Other then front brakes hoses?

I think you can just direct swap everything over crossmember to crossmember. You might want to post in the suspension forum for confirmation.

you need upper and lower 71-72 ball joints, 71-72 disk brake spindle, 71-72 wheel bearings, 71-72 rotors, 71-72 calipers and pads, 71-72 tie rod ends. 71-72 master cylinder, 71-72 proportioning valve, and power brake booster if you want it.

Steering linkage.
The 71-72 centerlink is not reproduced. You will need this to attach to 71-72 inner and outer tie rods. The only other option is to buy a $50 tie rod adapter to make the 71-72 outer tie rods connect to your current steering linkage. Even then,... you will need to use 67-70 outer tie rods in the "inner" tie rod position to gain the correct thread size and direction. Its easier to use all the 71-72 steering linkage, if you have access to it.
