Swap to carb?
I've got this 5.3lt motor out of a 2006 truck. I have the harness and the motor and accessories. What is the rough cost to switch to a carb setup vs FI? What is involved in changing over to carb? What about fuel pump wise?

from what I understand, the carb/intake will run you around $600.00 I am not sure about fuel delivery for carbed but the pump for FI will be around $100.00 along with a filter, external pump. motor mounts with adapter plates around 150.00 what trans are you thinking? either way if it isnt the stock 2006 4l60e you will need an adapter flywheel or bushings. 100.00 or so

1) MSD 6010 $300
2) GMPP or Edelbrock Victor LS1 carb intake $280 3) Carb approx $300 4) Fuel pump, generic 6-7psi electric $100 5) Sell your Intake, Harness and ECM ($250) The MSD is very, very easy to hook up but you don't want the Edelbrock version. You set the timing curve with your laptop on the MSD, can't do that on the Edelbrock. These engines make for very clean carb installs and gain a few HP. I'm doing one but it's just for looks, I want it took look old so I'm also dumping a couple hundred on some finned valve covers and relocating the coil packs. Lots of opinions out there about switching from EFI to carb. My personal opinion is do what you want, it's still far cheaper to get 300+ hp out of a $500 LSx engine plus the above parts than to build an old school, solid lifter carbed small block that will soon leak so why not?

Thanks for the answers, i'm trying to decide which route will be easier/cheaper in the long run. I am in Canada and don't have the luxury of easily returning parts and pieces that don't fit. I also don't have a trans yet. Nor do i have a cheap donor vehicle (junkyards here act like their vehicles are made of gold, pricewise)...

In my opinion it is much simpler to put carb on then jack around with all the wires that need to be hooked up everyware with the efi. I am doing a 6.0 carb swap right now. Depending on what fuel system you get and other addons you may want they are both about same price.
