torque specs did post no luck in engine area.

I am installing a few new gaskets this weekend and wanna make sure I do it correctly so looking for the proper torque specs. List goes as following 79 C10 350 engine: oil pan, timing cover, water pump, valve cover, intake and fuel pump. I know to some this might sound crazy but when your freshing up a engine and using good good gaskets (Fel-Pro perma dry) you wanna do it right one time! Thanks for the help guys or any links that might have a reference to torque specs on small block Chevys in the future. Brandon

You did have luck in the engine forum: SNUG

99% of these guys do it that way so they don't have the specs.

Go back to the engine forum and I will post it there!

Still can't believe anyone is doing this type of work without a service manual. Post next week will be about new gaskets and leaking.

Dang can I get a little bit more slammed? Factory manual doesn't state for newer type gasket only cork. I guess I was in the wrong for trying to build it right!!

Hey Brans.....my comment was for Lee. He can't believe motors have been built without service manuals. He is going to hold a class on gaskets and leaks.

Bottom line is some of the best tricks, shortcuts and "how to's" are not even in the service manuals. They were created when the service manuals proved to not always be the best way.

All of my expertise comes from "two guys garage"....the leaders in automotive tech. lol

Serious side note though: You really need to realize that the torque spec is for the FASTENER and not the part. Torquing is about stretching. If you use and aftermarket fastener like ARP, you must use their specs and the the OE one. Also, torquing with a lubricant changes the poundage too (which really doesn't come into play here).

Everybody play nice!
