Tie rod issue
I have a 71 that I am trying to install new tie rods on and my problem is the new tie rod studs are definitely too big to fit into holes. I have read that GM switched to a bigger size tie rod in 71. Is it possible that I may have the older style (smaller) tie rods in my truck? Has anyone else run into this issue before? By the way I have tried two different brands of tie rod and they both didnt fit so I can't imagine it's a manufacturing defect.

Re: Tie rod issue
Are you sure that they sold you the correct part? Even trying two different brands....doesn't mean that you have the right part. But, something isn't right.
You should be able to get a guage and check the thread size so you can be sure you have the right part.
