1972 GMC Ambulance
This is my '72 GMC Super Custom 1500 4X4 I can't wait to get it restored!
Here's a picture of the sheet in the glovebox... I talked to the Fire Chief that ordered the vehicle originally. He told me that he bought it through a GMC Dealer in Houghton Lake Mich (now out of business). He is looking for pictures to send me. From the factory it had the heavy duty suspension, the larger doors (of course), the topper, exhaust fan and a cargo heater as well as the items listed. He told me that it had a "federal tech." siren. A red bubble light on top and the words "Gerrish township" in peel and stick letters (lol) on the topper. He further told me that the "t" in the VIN stands for "Special Transportation Vehicle" Last edited by marblemaniac; 06-10-2003 at 09:25 AM. |

Thx... gonna take it back to original...lights, decals and all. It needs all the rocker panels, floor pans and seat. Other than that, the rest is a cake walk.

Awesomes truck,
My grandfather was the fire chief in Owosso, MI for 17 years (retired in the mid '70's) and had bought two ambulances, for the station, just like yours. Brings back memories. Welcome to the board. |

Is the build sheet is inside the glovebox? If so, I will post it. Is there a way to trace the order number? I have that as well.
I know is has posi-traction, 350 CID, Parchment trim, Delco Generator and it is Medium Red . I will get the rest of the info posted today if time allows. |

Do my eyes deceive me or is that a 4wd? If so, that's the type of ambulance for me!

The actual build sheet is seldom found in these trucks anymore. Most have desolved like a ford in the rust belt.
I think they are actually asking for the SPID option sheet that is in the glove box. |

A 4" suspension lift with some 33" or 35"s would make that be-och look awsome.
It's pretty nice in stck conf. too!
