Installing Early Classic Sway Bar

Hello everyone,

I am installing an ECE sway bar and having some difficulty. I am wondering if there is a "left and right" to the sway bar and if I have have it in upside down. The "U" clamp that holds the bushing to the lower control arm seems to be a long way from the control arm, and at a severe angle. I had to put a c-clamp on it to draw it down so I could get the bolts in. When I tighten up the bolts the bushing is popping out from under the "U" clamp becuase of the angle of the way bar is so different than the surface of the control arm. Anybody have experience or a picture to post? The ECE instuctions aren't very good.

Thanks!

Re: Installing Early Classic Sway Bar

Hey Jon.

While there's not really a left or right side to the bar, there is a right and wrong way for it to be mounted.

The front of the bar, after being mounted in the a-arm bushings, should kick up.

If your bar is kicking down after being mounted in the a-arm bushings, pull it, flip it and reinstall it.

Sorry I don't have pics for assistance, but check you bar and I think this should help you out.

Cheers!
Nate

Re: Installing Early Classic Sway Bar

Hey everyone,
Just finished the ECE drop sway bar installation. Not 100% sure if I got it the right way or upside down. Seems to fit a bit weird both ways, likely because there is no weight on the frame. Won't torque the bolts down until engine in place. The bar does seem to "kick up" after the control arm. Do you guys think I got it right? Thanks
