Like the topic says, this is a serious question and not a "for sale" thread.

I'm planning on selling my truck in a few months, and wanted to know what kind of condition it would have to be in, in order to get $4000 - $4500 out of it. This includes drive/train body, interior etc.

Very, very good condition, not even a scratch, and no dirt on it. You would probally have to put at least twice that much into the vehicle to get that much back. Generally, stuff sells second hand for ten cents to the dollar.

HeHe,if your luck's like mine,all you have to do to is spend about nine grand on it.

Well in the WA state Auto-trader, 90% of the trucks that are in the mid 70's, 4X4, fall into that price range.

My truck has a new engine with 1,000 miles on it and a 7 year warranty, and a new Th-350. I've got at least $4,000 in the drivetrain alone. And the body is in good shape. I just finished coating the frame/chassis from the cab back with Por - 15, and am about to put brand new bed wood in it. I also plan on cleaing up underneath the cab, and coating the floor pan with Por - 15 as well.

Well then why are you selling it? Sounds like you've poured some time, money, and effort into the truck.

I just spent 3700 here in south carolina and felt I got a great deal. It is a 81 c10 shortbed 350 with 700r4 good paint clean interior and clean motor but had it had a new motor and a little nicer interior I would have given 4000 to 4500 no problem I have seen alot go here for over 5.

Pretty rare to find an engine with a 7 year warranty also I would think.
I thought even GM crates were 3 years at most.

The engine has a 2 year full parts/labor warranty, and then a 5 year extension that has half off all parts used in repairs.

I'm basically selling it because a. I'm going to college, and b. My dad put up the money for the engine/tranny and I want to pay him back.

I got the truck as a daily driver hoping that it was going to be reliable but unfortunately within the next few months both the engine and tranny went south, which was a complete surprise, and you can imagine the "thrill" my dad felt when he had to put up the money to buy the new parts so I'd have something to drive.
