Question '86 Fuel Guage to Tach

I was wondering if any of the 73 - 87's ever came with a large tachometer that I could replace my fuel guage with, and then replace my clock with a smaller fuel guage.

There were some models that came with a large tach.
This could probably be done, but I think you might have to figure a work around to the circuit on the back of the gauge cluster if you were planning on plugging it into the cluster.... Either hard wire the gauges in or something.

Heather, I figured you would probably know. I think you're the resident guage expert now! Does your overlay package allow for a large tach?

LOL...I don't know about expert, but I've seen enough of these gauges in the past few months to dream about them...(or have nightmares..however you want to look at it )

Yes, the overlay package does have a large tach in it. I haven't seen a small tach in these years and don't know if they exist so the large tach is the only I have at the moment.

Low,

Heather is right, but the trick is to replace your circuit board at the same time. This solves the wiring problem.

Any specifics as to the year and model to look for for either the large tach or the small fuel guage?

Look in 73-81 1/2T trucks, or 3/4 1 ton's up to about '87.

You will be much better off getting a complete tach cluster and replacing your current one with it. Hopefully Dave will chime in and give us his always appreciated advice.

so I'm sitting on my damn couch having a cold beer and all of a sudden I feel myself being dragged through the mud!!!!!! WTH is going on.

alright low truck FNG ( who never signs his name???) Email me at my home email of all4trux@snip.net and I'll send you the eye-bleeding info. get your visine ready.

the short version is Heck yeah there are specific years unless you believe 90% of the guys selling them on ebay. also the conversion into your stock cluster is not for amatuers as the whole plastic housing is different for tach clusters. DAVE
