Hoarders........................

Has anyone watched this show? I only have a few times because the 2 episodes I saw were nasty. I just flipped back and forth to see if anything cool would be worth watching. But, I was thinking it would be pretty cool if they did a show on some of the parts hoarders we have on the site. It would be cool to see all the piles of truck parts, or even car parts sitting around and hidden. I love going to a place that has a lot of parts because it reminds me of when I went to all the swap meets with my Uncle back when I was growing up. I know this would probably never happen, because most collectors like to keep what they have out of plain sight let a lone on national TV. But it would be so cool. So who wants to be first?

I did know a guy (acually a shirt tail relative) who had 3 semi trailers full of nothing but model T parts . I havnt talked to him in about 10 years ,,but I bet he still has them..along with at least 2 complete running model T;s ..in pristine condition.. one of which was what was left of one that my "ol pappy" owned in the 60ies.. no pictures ,,wish I had some..

Re: Hoarders........................

A buddy of mine lives next to one of the hoarders featured on that show...

I drove to my buds house the first time (lives in horse country), and I drove by one of his neighbors house. The place looked like a trash dump, but you could tell that there was some sort of "organization" goin on.

I get to talk to my friend and say, what's up with the 24/7 yard sale?

He told me how that TV show had a big ol' production crew filming the place, and had dumpster after dumpster there cleaning the property. Six months later the person collected more junk, and it's worse now than it was before he was featured on TV.

Re: Hoarders........................

I know of a place near Indianola Iowa where an older guy had probabaly the biggest collection of model a and model t ford stuff left. About 10 years ago the state made him clean up a lot of his property. He told me he used to have 35 acres of t's and a's. He said he sold what he could before the state came in and crushed the rest. He was allowed to keep what couldn't be seen from the road. He has a , atleast 60x100, morton building filled with running, driving, original model t's and a's. I can't remember them all but he even had a 49 mercury chopped by Barris with a pic of Barris and him. He also had a zephyr convertible, not one but 2 of them. The whole clean up came due to a pesky neighbor that couldn't mind his own business. Now that all of the cars are away from the sight of the neighbor, this old man parked one model a sedan at the corner of his property at the corner of the gravel road so the neighbor could still see his old junk. If I'm out that way, I'll try to get some pics. I haven't been there for atleast 3 years.

Re: Hoarders........................

some people hoard/keep the right things, like the model A guy from IA. ... but the ones on tv hoarding shoes and clothes they never wear? ... It is a heads up for me to go through the closet, and give the never wear stuff to Good Will or the Mission.

I had a good run started on older Landcruiser parts, ... and I am actually glad my Wife Called me on it..... my head is actually clearer now that I am not spread so thin.

I know of a farmer that had like 113 motorcycles at his place, ... he got remarried and I know he thinned it down quite a bit......

Re: Hoarders........................

I never did and still don't consider myself a horder but I do have more "stuff" than I need. After watching a few episodes it really made me look closer at what I have and am getting rid of things now.

Re: Hoarders........................

My friend calls our garage/shed the 'Museum'...

On the show though, the ones that disgust me the most are the ones who have kids or animals... anyone see the one with the older lady with all the cats? They found 36 cats - 13 of which were dead!

Re: Hoarders........................

A client of my wifes is a hoarder to the point her house is condemned and she lives with friends. Just a pathway to walk through. Rats everywhere.
Her car has just enough room for 2 people to sit. Its a station wagon.
Sad !
