Computer trucks what's your water temp range?

I did a search and failed to come up with much of anything. I was wondering what kind of water temp range everyone's seeing on their factory guage (or otherwise) with the computer controlled (TBI) trucks? As I recall the early TBI/TPI stuff ran fairly hot from the factory.

I'm standard at 210 but sitting at a light (in gear) it will creep up to the 230s pretty quick. If I shift into neutral, it'll hang at 210.

I recall that 210 is pretty standard, but wondered what everyone else sees.

Mine's freezing (but it's a V6, if that makes a difference).

Runs pretty much 180 degrees no matter what.

I put a 180 deg thermostat in my CC 83 silverado and that's the temp it stays in most of the time, warms up with the AC to about the second line on the gauge but has never gone over the 210 mark, and running the electronic Qjet.

my truck when im sitting in line for food will go a little bit past 210, i realized the clutch fan doesnt work in my truck. electric fans is the way to go. Where i live its very common to see 100+ days for the summer, also do you a 4 core radiator? (thick one) mine is a 86 so it has a carb on it.

Mine creeps up to 210, then the thermostat pops open and it drops to 160-170 and never moves.

Re: Computer trucks what's your water temp range?

I have the clutch fan and what appears to be a stock electric fan. The electric fan runs when it goes over 210. It appears to have a 4 row rad in it. Wonder if I could have a blockage. Seems like I am running hotter than normal compared to you guys.

Its not on a computer controled emgine, but its what mine runs at.

It runs just a bit lower then that and when it hits temp it wont move.

Re: Computer trucks what's your water temp range?

Thanks guys. I appreciate it. I'm going to change the thermostat. I wonder if that's the deal. Might be stuck open. Gotta start somewhere?

Re: Computer trucks what's your water temp range?

When driving I am at 180 but when stopped it goes to 210 to 230 but then back down. I am going to go with dual electric fans and that should solve it. Even though it's not a problem.

Re: Computer trucks what's your water temp range?

yea, when i bought mine, the tbi 454 ran at 210 and would creep to 230 or so in traffic. i put a 180 thermostat in it and it runs so much better.
