Re: Mallory Distributor HeLP!!!

The quality and performance of the Mallory dual point made them the standard performance distributor for many years. Years later the Unilite erased most of that reputation and MSD became the predominant performance ignition system.

For a vintage installation, the Mallory points distributor would fit and look perfect. I would use which ever of the two is in better shape (bearing wear and end play), with the Pertronix kit mentioned above. It’s the best of both worlds, a well manufactured distributor without the troublesome points. I only had one dual point distributor, but seem to remember it being more finicky to set the point gap correctly, and higher spring tension made the rubbing blocks wear more rapidly.
