I need an UN-BIASED opinion.

OK, I know I am on a CHEVY forum, but I really need an UN-BIASED opinion.....please.
I have a 1977 Ford F250 Ranger XLT 460,C6,2wd,working A/C. The truck is in 'decent' shape-by no means perfect-but no rust and runs GREAT(14 mpg,also have to smog). I have 2 guys that want to trade me different trucks;

First one is a 1975 GMC 3/4t,2wd,350,3 on the tree-base model-no power steering,no A/C. Has rust on the hood,and in the doors,and a dent in the roof like someone sat on it...NO SMOG.

Second is a 1978 Chevy 1t crewcab single rear wheel,2wd,454,TH400,no A/C. Engine is partially torn down for timing chain replacement and never finished.....have to smog.
What would YOU do?

Re: I need an UN-BIASED opinion.

keep what you got. I wouldnt concider giving a relatively rust free truck for a rusty one. AND I would trade a "torn down" non running truck for a running truck, the trades just doesnt sound like you will be getting the best of the trade.

Is there any incentive to trade? Dad had a truck like that or ?

Re: I need an UN-BIASED opinion.

As far as condition goes it looks like not much of a fair trade with either deal. I'm a sucker for crewcab longbeds though. But it seems like it could use a lot of tlc to get up to par with your f250 (which is very nice btw)

For me I'd be torn between the ford and crew cab since you'd actually be "upgrading" in a way if you like crews. But I don't think it's even a question for the gmc. It's kind of like you are trading a nice version of a truck for a worse version of the same truck. Unless you do have some incentive for it such as your dad had one

Re: I need an UN-BIASED opinion.

I think this is the kind of opinions I needed to here. There are no incentives at all. I think the GMC is the 'NO SMOG' thinking,and the crewcab is , well just that 'CREWCAB' thinking!lol

You'll almost never here me say this, but keep the Ford... until someone with a Chevy in that same condition offers you a 'trade'.

Good decision. That Ford is too nice to trade for either of those trucks.

I'd also keep the Ford. Other than the squarebody Chevy, those late '60s Fords are my favorites.

Glad you are going to keep on looking. your truck is in a completely different ball park than those other trucks.

Im far from a ford enthusiast but trading your truck for either of the other two is a terrible deal imo. Keep the ford....never thought id say those words lol.
