I bought a used intake and wasn’t happy with the way it was cleaning up. I was thinking about powder coating it anyway so I pulled the trigger and had it done. I had medium gray picked out and as I was walking out the door, the black chrome chip caught my eye. I decided at the last minute to go with the black chrome. I wish I would have stayed with the original selection but too late now. It does look a lot better than the pictures show.

I picked up a nice 800 Edelbrock but I can’t use it with the air cleaner that I want. I may ditch the Edelbrock and go with a Holley. I have some time before my motor is complete so I’ll worry about that later.

Looks good we was going to do it but our motor guy sad no it holds in the heat, But it looks good

There are three our four places here in Wichita that do powder coating. The black chrome cost a little more since it has a clear coat, it was $90.00 plus tax.

I've read mixed reveiws on holding heat in. Most of the guys that I talked to didn't seem to worried about it...hope it works allright.
I have two neighbors with powder coated intakes and no issues, ones on a 540 and the other is on a 468.

you can get a coating to help pull heat as well. When I restored my Elk I had the entire block coated the best idea ever.

Looks good till you use it. It's been my experience that Powder Coating
can not take the heat on certain engine parts. Maybe you will be OK but
my intake turned colors in the middle below the carb close to the head.

they usually leak oil from the 2 middle bolts if no sealent is used on them and it stains the intake, dont know about powdercoating tho.....

It does feel smooth to the touch but it also magnifies the imperfections in the casting. I'm happy wiith the quality of finish, just wish I would have went with the lighter color. We'll see how it holds up, I wouldn't have done it if it was a new manifold but thought it would be worth a try on this one.

i guess it depends on who does the coating. mine have never dis-colored (3 years) and I have reached some very high temps.

No, they are regular chrome, garage is a little dark. Color of the intake is growing on me.

Motor is finally coming together. Not the best picture, garage lights not handling the cold too well.
