Fuel Gauge stuck at 1/2 tank
Guys I just took out my dash bezel to replace some bulbs, and touch up the needles. Since I have put it back int the gauge needle is stuck at 1/2 tank.
I put 20$ worth in today, and the needle didnt move. I didnt want to take the chance in running out while I was out on the road, however the needle didnt move. Everything I have read on the boards say there is tan wire going to 16pin connector or so going into the electrical board on the back. Is there anything on the back of the gauge that needed to be hooked back up? |

Definitely the sending unit. It always is when the gas gauge screws up. Hardly ever hear of it being the gauge itself. You might be able to pull the sending out and fix it yourself maybe its hanging up, or rusted terribly like mine was and just won't function correctly. Check it out.

Re: Fuel Gauge stuck at 1/2 tank
Thanks guys... Believe it or not, a nut was loose on the circuit board. And soon as it tightened up and made contact with the copper ring, the gauge went to 3/4 full. Key is off and its sitting at that spot. My guess its now working.
So keep that mind, tighten your nuts |

Re: Fuel Gauge stuck at 1/2 tank
Good to hear you got it fixed, I thought that it was strange that it happened right after you had the gauge out. Just a note, the needle is balanced so it stays where ever it was when the key was on after you turn it off.

Re: Fuel Gauge stuck at 1/2 tank
Rule of thumb,if something is working correctly before a person takes something apart and puts it back together it can usually be traced back to something that was overlooked, disturbed or reassembled incorrectly.
