odered my ARP accessory bolt kit, high volume oil pump kit, themostat and housing, few errands to run then onto todays progress and pics

camera isn't working but the upper and lower control arms are now silver, and found out I have to order u bolts for the lower cross shafts that are in tomorrow, kinda mad I'll be on hold for awhile, updates will be up again when I get my camera working and get into the motor and tranny

What kind of temps are you getting in your area/shop this time of year.
And how cold does it get.

Shop is decent as long as the heaters are going until outside temps hit-25 celsius which is anyday, callin for -14 tonight, winters are generally reasonable avg temp of -15 to-30 from dec to mid march, with the exception of february, every year we get 1-2 weeks of -30 to -50 with wind chill, that's why I figure dec until mid march I will just get back to my gym routine and let the project sit, should also help me save up for the body panels and other pieces I'll be needig and recharge the desire to work on it, I do generally have april, may, and half of June off so pending funds there will be alot of time to do the consuming bodywork

Here today, It was 83 degrees F or about 28 Celsius
It rarely gets below freezing.
But summers get heat indexes of 120 F or 50 C
with 100% humidity

I could do the heat I'm originally from central BC where it hits those temps but almost zero humidity, humidity is a killer when you aren't used to it, let alone when you are, wish I lived in central texas or arizona, perfect all year round, on the plus side it gets nice just as fast as it gets cold so when I'm off in the spring I'll have all the weather and time I need, hopefully the money aspect works out, I would love to have it on the road end of next summer

no pics today, but I tore the motor down with the exception of the harmonic and timing cover as even with my puller it ain't movin, on the plus side it's a 4bolt main, piston tops were pretty clean, and after spraying a ton of wd40 into the cylinders and waiting an hour for it to leak past the rings, it didn't so re ringing is most likely as far as I'm gonna go with this thing, hopefully it's a semi short term motor anyway, hoping to get a crate and swap my top end over once I'm on the road. Got a heavy dudty mechanic for a cousin comin over with some gauges and opinions on what to bother with and helpt get the balancer off, really looking to get it on the go, waiting on parts for the suspension so I need to stay busy

Tighten the shi! out of the puller and then take the biggest hammer you have and hit the pusher bolt of the puller. Make sure you put the damper bolt back in and back it out a few turns, just in case the thing is going to launch itself.

cousin is a heavy duty mechanic uphere and has the proper puller, gonna pull it tomorrow, says the motor is good gonna slamnew rings in for the sake of it, thanks for the tip though

thanks, slow going, but it's about to get a bunch of parts, 5-7days and my lower control arm u bolts arrive and I should have a few days off then to install it all, wheels and tires on monday, rear 5 lug conversion on wednesday, now I just need a few days off

rims and tires are in, began welding the trailing arm rebuild kit, and the u bolts, shock mounts, rear drums, and 5 lug axles came in, and ordered my 2in rear block kit I failed to rememberon my last order, and I have tomorrow off, should be fun, as soon as the shop is warm it's painting time and hopefully we get the trailing arms done today or tomorrow

thanks, it's been like christmas every week, know the ups guy by name now, he even knows my roommate and both dogs names, finally showed him what it's all for, he thought I had a home based business, good for a laugh, now it's all time, hoping to have it rolling by end of the week so I can get my good cab off the ground before it's frozen in for the winter

I see my new wheels showed up today, i hope you did get them in 20X10 for the rear. I will be by tomorrow afternoon to pick them up. Do they fit on your new hubs?

hahaha, ya I went with 8.5's all around, going to run a big bolt on spacer in the back to push them out, easier to rotate the tires, I'm sure eventually I'll spring for the 10's but may go with 22x10's when they come available, picked up another propane and an electric heat dish, garage is toasty, may even get some work done on this yet, have to do some mild grinding as far as I know to make them fit, but I better slam some paint on the parts, bolt them on and reall see what issues I'm going to have

out in the shop it finally warmed up enough to paint, shot a 1sy coat on all the cross shafts, u bolts, steering components and noticed CPP forgot my inner tie rods so I guess it'll be awhile until they arrive and it'sa roller, but hoping to get the majority of it together tomorrow, a little mad, but if I wasn't cheap I'm sure I could grab a set tomorrow, no rush on this one anyway

I will have to check, but I believe I have the whole draglink/tierod assembly sitting with your 2 newly acquired steering boxes you might need. Will bring when I come to pick up my wheels!

hahaha your truck's gonna be too nice for cheapo 338's, and everything else is goodjust missing the tie rods and may buy one of those boxes off you, probably have to come check out your truck one of these nights

I don't accept cash, but i do beer. There's 2 boxes and 2 pairs of hood hinges, sitting in the cab outside. Have not got much done because of work. Need to get some welding done and then ready to take for finishing. Love the grey five spokes so much that I already have a set of torque thrust D's on my mustang, and when I found out how cheap the 338's were i liked them even more.

Cool, I was pretty excited about the cheap price myself and they look good on the old trucks, as soon as I found out the mods were minor for fitment I was sold on them, originally I was hoping to find some old school 15in cragars and run white walls but you know how that goes, you see something you like mid build and plans change, still on the fence with the matte paint, pretty well sold on it, but we'll see when I get there, at this point I'm ust hoping to get it all on and the parts in the garage, then it's on the shelf til spring breakup and hopefully I have the cash to make it roadworthy by end of the summer, trying to have it done for my 30th birthday in August
