Re: door handle position

I don’t find anything specific in the 1960 Chevy Shop Manual, but the following promo photos show the door handles angled to the rear and the window winders pointing straight ahead:

Re: door handle position

I think this is a result of the door locking itself if the handle is horizontal and the spring is week. My 64 GMC kept locking itself till I pointed the door handle downwards like in the picture.

Re: door handle position

I need to move mine because it pokes my leg when I rest it on the door.

I think the 60-63 position in the pics would work best, because you would pull the handle up to open the door. I have my 63 set like my 65 ,(3 on the clock) and I have to push it down to open the door, which is awkward.
the 64-66 controls work opposite of the 60-63, which makes the 3 on the clock face position optimal because ,again you pull up to open the door.

right now it is driving me nuts driving a 63 one day and a 65 the next, because the door controls work opposite of each other, so I am always locking myself into the 63 instead of opening the door.

Re: door handle position

mine now is in the 4 oclock position but my gf has a hard time opening it cause its in an awkward push position. just wondering what the factory location is. Before I had it in a 2 oclock position which worked great just didnt look good.
