Unhappy New power steering pump...and a leak from an atypical place. I think.

I replaced my power steering pump today because it was leaking pretty bad and it wasn't until I went to the parts store to pick it up that I realized how they are put together. I have a remote reservoir mounted on my inner fender, but I think the basic construction is the same for a on-unit reservoir pump. Anyway, when I got the new one, I realized that I had to take the casing off of mine and put the new pump in it. Once I got it all back together and installed, I filled up my reservoir and cranked the engine over a few times to run fluid through the new one and check for leaks. Sure enough, drip drip drip. But not from the case to pump mating surface or from any of the fittings on the back of the case. I don't know how the heck it happened (if I did it today somehow or it was already like this), but the damn thing has a pinhole leak at about the 1 o'clock position on the rear edge of the case. I didn't ever hammer anything, so I don't know what might have caused it. Anywho, I guess I'm going to try to band aid it with a bit of JB Weld so I don't have to pull it all the way off, empty it, weld it and reinstall it.

I wonder how common this is. I can't imagine it happens too often, just one of those deals I guess.

Dammit. I did it again. Supposed to be in the truck forum. Sorry 'bout that.
