I hate to break it to him but even fully restored it wouldnt bring $14K. I wish him good luck and it would definitely be a nice truck to build but I wouldn't go more that $4-5K.

That right there is exactly why I would never leave a car to a kid I didn't feel had a 100% appreciation for cars (trucks included), and family. I understand it belongs to the kid, so he can do what he wants, but man that's messed up. Go get a school loan boy, they're cheaper and you'll get more money than you will for that truck. Some people.....

I agree.
This kid thinks that his Poppaw's truck is worth $18K but $14K should bring a quick sale.
Doing some quick searches, I can't find any original virgin truck of this trucks condition selling for more than $8K anywhere in the continental US.
That's the problem with ignorant sellers that get a case of the greed after placing completely unrealistic sentimental value on an item that has a very limited base of interested buyers.
Any thing is only worth what someone is willing to part with to make it theirs.
He should consider an offer of $7K very generous as the truck will soon need to be restored.
This is only a logical conclusion for an untouched vehicle of that age.

I hope duallyjams is right and he really wants to keep it. If not, it’s too bad it wasn’t inherited by his dad instead. Maybe then it would have remained in the family long enough for the next generation to mature into appreciating the true value of the gift.

He won't get what he is asking for the truck, that is pure and simple.
Looks like a nice project, I would convert it to a fleetside. Step sides aren't my preferance in the 60-66 body style. The 59 and older trucks look better with the step sides.
Wonder how many hits he has had on the add if any at all.

Fellas, fellas .... I'm not so sure who the fool is here... The kid that wants a bit more than his truck will fetch in a buyers market, or the guy that thinks a restored/modified truck is worth twice what an original is.
The collector car/truck market has matured some in recent years. Original, un-restored cars and trucks are bringing more money than the hot pink billet specials are. Untouched cars and trucks are up, neon striped restomods down.
So ease up on the poor kid. He's got a nice unmolested family truck, and he wants all he can get from it. It's just too bad the economy went to s--t, and fewer people are spending money. I for one would be a hundred times more likely to buy his virgin truck than anything that ever came off the set of Overhaulin'.

It's all good, and there is room for everyone here. But for most of us on this site this youngster trying to sell a family heirloom truck for twice of what its worth is more than a little off the wall.

Junior should get a student loan and keep the family heirloom for future generations. Or sell it to Uncle Eddie for a reasonable amount and let him do it justice.

I would bet dollars to donuts that there is no collage fund or Grampa's grampa and that this is just another Craig's lister trying to dupe some poor unsuspecting sap out of his hard earned money.
FAR too many people throw unrealistic value on something they inherit that they think will bring them some $$$ and big fat payday at someone else's expense.
I think it is disrespectful to a family members memory and intensions to just "cash in" on old Granddad's death.
Here is an example;
I have an all too nice, gullible friend that bought a 67 GTO with an ultra rare, all aluminum 326 race motor and lenco 4 speed transmission.... It was old uncle Bob's race car... left to old redneck Gomer Pyle
Of course, he never investigated, never called me (I have been restoring GTO's for 30 years), he just bought the guys BS lie and picked up a 67 GTO with a 68 350 beater motor (spun rod bearing and all) and a Saginaw 4 speed for $6500...... Looked original... New paint job....and a little checking would have saved him from buying a nicely disguised POS rust bucket...
