I bought a cowl hood for a 71 chevy fleetside on which I am putting a 68 front clip. The hood pretty good but, looking straight on toward the front of the grill both sides hit the grill leaving about 1/2" gap between the bottom of the hood and the top of the grill. Can you guys on the board reassure me that this can be adjusted out or do I need to return the hood. The guy I bought it from said it was a goodmark hood, however the box it was in reads Tri Plus Company Inc. part no. EF 2093CW Steel Cowl Induction Hood. He said it was made by Goodmark from their tooling. Any input from the board will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Headquarters.

It's a 67-68 cowl hood. I am putting a 68 front clip on my 71 chevy truck. I purchased 68 aftermarket radiator support, cowl hood & I am using original 68 fenders but after assembly there is a gap between the middle of the grill and the bottom of the hood, the sides of the hood at the front meet the rad support leaving the gap I mentioned in the middle. Can this be adjusted out? Thanks for any board members input.

Pretty sure all goodmark hoods are stamped goodmark, mine was.

Hard to say without seeing it, but it sounds like you may want to try to move the latch down. Virtualy all aftermarket parts require some tweeking for any where close to a good fit

sounds like you should go talk to him and find out what the deal is. Ive heard that the others fit like you describe and that the goodmark ones fit real good.

Goodmark hoods are stamped Goodmark right near the front near where the hood latch is located. When I was a dealer there were times I ordered from Goodmark and I received Triplus hoods. Never really had a problem with either one. Real good hoods.

The dealer I bought the hood from assured me all hoods are from Goodmark due to a lisence with Goodmark & Chevrolete, but Goodmark sold them to different dealers. I hope this isn't swamp land I have bought. Like I said before it hits on the corners in the front on the grill top but leaves a gap in the middle between the grill top & the bottom of the hood. Other than that it fits OK. Hopefully this can be adjusted out to give a good fit.

I had the very same problem only worse.

I had a 1" gap in the middle and both corners hit. It was a Goodmark hood. the fit along the side's was totally s*it also the part you look at from the inside looked diffirent on bothe sides too. I have seen a few truck with pieces of foam at each coroner of the hood I could never figure out why. Now I understand. I took the hood back and told him for 800 Cdn that for that kinda of money it should need block sanding and primer. That's it !
he was cool with it. After all he does not make the hoods.

Their is some room for tweaking these hoods, Start with your front adjustable bumpers by unscrewing them up a little while screwing the catch pin into the plate and shutting the hood with even palm pressure accross the front edge, work slowly, it might take a few times adjusting and shutting but it will work the bow out of the hood. Next question are you sure your grill is straight and not bowed down? do you have the 67-8 center grill support and hood latch or a 67-8 support and a 69 or newer latch?

Sounds like you need a 67-68 hood by what I am reading. I sell both Goodmark and Tri-Plus hoods both are a very good hood but I don't get my Tri-Plus at Goodmark. I get them from a Tri-Plus wholesaler. I look forward to getting to talk to you this weekend at Super Chevy.

I think he said he has the right hood in a response. My buddy had this same problem after alot of work he got it close but it still has a small gap in the middle. I would try and adjust it but if your not happy, take it back.

I called Goodmark and a guy in sales said that a Tri Plus hood is made from the same tooling that a goodmark hood is made from. He said that they are made in Tiwan shipped in different boxes. I bought new hood hinges & springs from Tim Christian Saturday a the Bristol Super Chevy Show. He is a wealth of informatiion and I recomend anyone to buy aftermarket parts from him. A cool dude to say the least with great prices. Thanks for the help Saturday Tim. If anyone has any more suggestions on how to get my cowl hood to fit up better please give input. They are real sharp hoods & I hope to get the fit-up right without having to go back to a stock 67-68 hood that will fit properly.

Just how many companies in Taiwan are there making parts?I was under impression that next to N O S that Goodmark were the best as they had to meet actual G M specs.
The other companies used inferior steel and had there dies made from fibreglass moulds of parts which means they would be out a bit.Also I heard that in Taiwan they bought up old stamping dies from G M that could be worn out.I wish someone would clear this up for the members on this board
