Smile need help on wireing a tach

how do you wire up a tach theres 4 wires im gonna give it a shot some one told me that ones power (what kind of power hot?) one goes to the dizzy (where,its an hei) ones ground (i think) and the last is a light (hooked to where )? if anybody replies i thank you as i need to install this tmarrow.

black is a good ground.
Green goes to the neg teminal on an exterrnal coil, or the TACH terminal on an HEI cap. (right beside the power wire)
Red goes to a switched 12V lead. (Hot when ignition is on)
And white goes to dash lights...there should be a spot for that on the fuse box by the lights fuse.
