Thinking of going street/strip now instead of 22s and laying frame.Would like to do a prostreet type deal on 20s but was told if you put any power to those mickey thompsons they will just spin so stick with some 15x14s,what do you guys think?

i'm thinking about buying some 17's for the car shows, then bolting my drag wheels for the strip. Right now i have a 2.5" drop front spindle and 4" drop rear springs, but i'm going to do another 1" drop on the front and change the rear to a 6" drop. I think it should look pretty good...

No need to wonder,i'm not saying 15x14 cause i think thats all that will hook i like the look.We got plenty of cars around here getting it done on 10.5s.I didnt say i was new to drag racing my friend.Just asking opinons from fellow drag racers with c10s.

I like lowered trucks but "laying frame" does nothing for me. I also am not a huge fan of wheels bigger than a 20" wheel, the tires just get to ruberband like. Even 20's can be too big on most vehicles. Now I say that from a personal opinion.

You should build a vehicle to suit your enjoyment. If you are torn between the idea, only you can ultimately make the right decision for yourself. I personally enjoy racing my truck and would try to convince you to go that route, but a car show/cruise guy might try to persued you to do the hole air bag deal because they find enjoyment doing that. Neither option is wrong persay, but only you know what you will be happiest with.

I like both looks, prostreet and bagged. How much power you planning on putting down? Seems like if you are planning on serious power I think the 15" rims would be better, but if you are going more for the look and just occasional runs down the strip with less power I think the 20's would work just fine.

I normally race bikes,but havent raced in the past few years since i sold the busa.Now that i've been into my truck and been hangin out at my buddies chasis shop the love for the 1320 is back and its back like a morning erection!lol. But im thinking more of a race setup and just cruise it,race it,show it.

This is how I approached my tire and wheel combination...I have a set of 15x12s with equal diameter (to my street radials) drag radials to mount up when I decide to go to the track. That way you can run what you want on the street and have a set to thrash on at the track, and not worry about damaging your street combination.

Well check my build....I'm bagged with 15x12 rims on the rear with a set of M/T's 31x16x15 ( with 29x16x15 I could lay out more with out tire rub on the top of the tub) the fronts are stock 235x75x15's ..if you look further into the build you'll see I just did the 500 caddy swap with a th400 and 3:73 gears....

I havn't run it at the strip yet but they had soem airport 1/4 mile dargs and it ran back to back 99 mph spinning one wheel hard for the first 100 feet I think with a posi it will be a 100 mph work truck

Kris they make some killer P/S radial's now....I have heard nothing buit good things well except the price.....I have been scoring use Bais ones for $100 a pair and since..ummm...they wear out in the centers very fast ??? not sure WHY???? I think once I get some paint I may calm down and ching up for a pair...

What about the drag radials,is anyone with a truck running them?Been tryn to find out about some real world test on the new Nitto nto5r.Thinking i could have the best of both worlds with the new technology in 20inch drag radials.

I've run a few different drag radials on the street, not at the track yet. I've had 325/50/15 BFGs, 275/40/17 MTs and my current setup is 295/35/18s BFGs. They hook ok, not great off the line, but from a roll they are fine. I think with some tuning and some newer 315/18s I can get current setup to hook. I am probably pushing 650+ hp and 600+ ft-lbs. The one advantage I have is I don't start building boost until over 3+ rpms so I can get rolling before the I'm putting all that power to the wheels. I am also running a 5 spd which is a bit harder to hook.
I think DR can work but the rest of the suspension plays a key roll.
18"+ DR are becoming more popular because of the newer vettes and other RWD sports cars.

I run a 315/60/15 ET Street drag radial on my truck.
I had a set of BFG 275/50/15 DR's when I first got the truck going.
Also had a 30x13.50 ET street bias on the truck.

I ran 275/45/17 Nitto DR's on my 01 Camaro SS..
Also had a 28x11.50x15 ET street on the car.


It would be hard for me to compare traction with each tire do to sizes, different motor/suspension combo's and two different vehicles. I can tell you the Nitto's "seemed" a bit harder than all of the other 3 listed. I got 15k miles out of them on my SS but the car was daily driven 120 miles on the freeway. I did use them for racing though.

The Radials feel a lot more stable than the ET streets simply because of the style tire (non bias ply).

Everyone talks about how quickly the ET street DR's wear out, but Mine are lasting a good long time. But, I do have a 30" one which means there is more roll out compared to a 26" or 28" tire. That is also going to slow the wear down (Less rotations to go the same distance).

I can say that my M/T's vs even a 60 series radial it feels like the Bias PS tires lend themself to more tire spin till there warm....once warm they stick hard enough for me to think about that 2 piece DS under my truck??

I think that when I step up to a radial I'll try to be a little easy on them because of the $$$ you can pick up a set of slicks or cheaters pretty cheap used if you shop around the track or even craigs list...slap them on a set of cheap wheels throw them in the back of the truck with a 4 way and head the 100 miles to the track in 15 min you can swap them out save some ching and if nothing else have a couple spare tires
