Towing with a C Notch?

I am either going to have to c notch my 75 Jimmy or raise it back up a little. I did the flip on the rear and ride is terrible at times. My main concern though is whether you guys think I would still be able to pull a car hauler once I go with a c notch? The Jimmy sits quite low now although not as low as a bunch of your trucks. I just do not know if I could feel safe pulling a loaded car hauler knowing I had done some framework such as a c notch. Anyone here who has already proven this can be done?

Thanks
Brad

good parts and good craftsmanship and you should have no problem--i did a bolt-on notch(belltech) and also welded it in place on a 1 ton truck that later had a 5th wheel installed and never had any problems

Get your self a set of airlift helper bags, they are great for towing with a lowered truck.

I have a set of those but without a c notch I think that is the main place my poor ride quality is coming from. Will talk to a guy today about making a c notch. I am thinking of seeing about boxing the rear part of the frame also.Just for a little extra strentgh.

I agree w/BB on this one. A bolt in 'c' section is fine for just driving, but if your going to do some towing, welding it in is good insurance.

I bolted mine in @ first on my 68 & then when I got my trailer I went ahead & welded everything up for 'piece of mind'. No problems so far (2yrs later).

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

SCOTI how much is your 68 lowered and how big of a trailer do you pull with it?

It's about a 5/7. I used WC 2.5" drop spindles & 1 coil cut off the original, slightly sagging, front springs & have 2600# air bags mounted in the stock coil location + 1.5" blocks & adj panhard bar out back.

I pull an open 18ft steel floored car hauler/trailer. Right @ this moment it has a 67/9 GMC swb frame w/cab sitting on it. It typically rides w/the top of the axle (housing) about .5" into the c-section & my bed floor has the missing wood to prove it . With nothing behind me, I run around w/about 30psi in the bags & w/the trailer, I bump it up to about 70psi to compensate for the xtra weight.
