Have I been Snookered?!?!
Well,
lolife was looking a 71 cheyenne super glovebox and I went digging through my stuff and found this that I picked up at a swap meet....only question I have is (and was asked in the WTB ad and got me thinking), why doesn't it have cheyenne package listed on the SPID???....So, did I get snookered (it's not really snookered, it's ignorance not looking at the SPID in the first place)??

Re: Have I been Snookered?!?!
Theres lots of options that GM never put on those, so dont take them as gosple. You cant even tell what specific engine it had on some of them.

Re: Have I been Snookered?!?!
Forum member 'chipflyer' may be able to shed some light on this. He is a SPID label expert for sure.

Re: Have I been Snookered?!?!
The SPID shown was NOT on an original "Cheyenne Super". Cheyenne Super (YE9) had upper and lower body side moldings included in the package on Fleetside bodies. BX2 would not be listed on the SPID on an original Cheyenne Super (YE9) truck. Not to mention that the YE9 code is not on there.

Re: Have I been Snookered?!?!
It looks like the truck is a Custom that had lower moldings as an option.does the truck have a cargo lamp on the back of the cab?

Re: Have I been Snookered?!?!
Oh,I misunderstood. You are asking if it's an authentic Cheyenne Super glovebox door or just an applique on a non-Cheyenne Super glovebox door. It's the latter of the two.

I know, I know...I'm an idiot.....Thanks for pouring salt into the wound Special-K!!!
Oh well...Lesson learned....read the darn SPID before you get all giddy that you found a nice wood-grain glove box door.....I appreciate everyone's input!

Re: Have I been Snookered?!?!
FWIW, you can always swap out the SPID (as long as you're not passing it off like the last guy) but the woodgrain from the picture looks pretty original.

Re: Have I been Snookered?!?!
I don't know that wood grain looks pretty original especially around the push button, I have used the applique in the past and it doesn't form to the indentation that well. Also did the custom doors have the stainless trim? It's just my opinion but that SPID looks newer than the wood grain maybe it was changed.

Re: Have I been Snookered?!?!
Only Cheyenne Supers and Sierra Grandes had the aluminum woodgrain applique. It is an original GM applique. It easy to swap them.
Geoff,I wouldn't worry. You didn't give some heap of cash for it,did you?You got the genuine applique. That and the emblem are all that's different.I guess you just wanted 100% authentic for the neat factor on a wall hanger.
