do the a-arms from 73-87 bolt right up to the 67-72? are they any wider than the 67-72?

they bolt right up, don't think they are any wider, didn't check when I converted mine to disc, no issue.

The arms alone won't swap. You need to swap the shafts too. If you use the 73-up U-bolts on the lowers you will need to slightly enlarge the holes in the crossmember. Otherwise, everything fits.

The only difference will be the "rubber bushed" cross shafts and the balljoints.

can i use the 67-72 lower u-bolts to bolt up the lowers instead???

its a simple swap, i have just never understood why someone would want the rubber bushings instead of the metal ones that come stock.

Here are some pics. The 73 and up pics are crappy but you get the idea. You can see the rubber on the 73 parts and the all metal 72. As far as the u-bolt the 73-87 ones work fine on a 72 front end like these. . The over all thickness of the bolt is bigger, but it fits the shaft and goes through the cross member fine.

How about: they last longer, they don't need greasing, they don't pick up dirt, they cost less and they are easier to find? Also, some people (but not me) say they ride better and transmit less noise/shock to the frame/body.

Most cars switched from metal to rubber bushings in the 50s. The trucks just took a little longer.

cool...son is gonna bag his truck, switch to tubular a-arms, and i may transfer his arms from his 79 to my 68....already have new bushings installed also..

True 73-87 u-bolts work, they are bigger around and when I did my 69 thought I would need to make the hole bigger but after looking the new u-bolts they were spead apart just a little. Put a nut on one side and tapped it with a hammer against a 2x4 and fit perfect.
