How does this work? Tell me everything!!

I found this Accel Fuel Management System and thought it was the coolest looking intake I could find. All I'm wondering is how does it work, does it use just any normal carb, is fuel injected, and what all do I need to buy if I bought this?

Are there any pics out there with this on there 350 as well?

Its for multi point fuel injection. You would have to add injectors and a throttle body.

Agree 100% with these guys.......BUT

Then you can give it to me!

Honestly it would cost a lot of money to get it working properly. But I can be done if researched on each component needed.

My limited efi knowledge has taught me that it's easier to use a complete system. A lot of time, money, and frustration can be spent on piecing a system together and getting it to run right. Don't forget your 12 volt system better be tip top as the controller get finicky without constant voltage, and a good fuel and plumbing system is a must.

Go to the Smeding Performance website and take a look at their 383 EFI crate motor ... it uses an Accel system. And yes, it requires alot of components that would need to be source, including an EFI-capable fuel tank.

If it is just the look of the intake you like it looks like a cross between the Edelbrock Air Gap and Edelbrock Victor Jr. You really should pick your intake based on your engine build though.

Thanks for the help guys. I'm pretty sure I have convinced myself to just stick with the easy stuff till I learn more. I didn't quite realize you need all that. That's a lot of scratch I don't have.

To break that down it is VERY close estimate.

1. Electric Fuel pump
2. High Pressure Fuel line & Filter
3. EFI Controller
4. 8 High Pressure fuel injector
5. Throttle Body
6. Fuel Rail

I am sure that I am missing a few parts but you get the idea if you pieced the system together the price is very close to that estimate of $2,600!!

Uh yeah, I'll just stick with the normal intake and carb. I'm not even close to having that much money. Hmm, maybe if I could sell one of my five trucks I have, then I could go with that set up.

It can be done cheaper. Mega Squirt makes controllers, buy used injectors, throttle body... But you need to know what your doing or be willing to do the research,troubleshooting...Big learning experience.

A few more parts to help the controller; map sensor, engine temp switch, O2 sensors, bungs on the exhaust for the O2 sensors and tpi (throttle position sensor) if your throttle body does not have one. A laptop to install the programs/maps to the controller. I used mega squirt on a 6 cyl and still, it took some time (maybe 8 hours) and various mapping to get it running right.

Now that is something I'm very interestesd in learning. At first you all where scaring me away, but now I'm really interested.
