another Oklahoma find
Hi,
I just picked up a 66 GMC 1/2 ton with the 305 V6 in it. currently working on trying to get the 305 to free up and turn over but not much success as of yet. The truck has a 4 speed tranny in it (think its a munci but have cleaned all the dirt off of it). The one thing im not sure of is the rear suspension, the truck has leaf springs with helper springs. Is this a standard setup of 1/2 trucks or a special order from the factory? |

Welcome to the gang!!
Looks like a good start to a fun project. Not sure about the 66 GMC rear leafs, but the helpers are available on all of these trucks.

Re: another Oklahoma find
The PO said the seats were out a 70's international, the bolt holes on the seat dont match up with the cab's bolt holes. he had the seats setting on a couple of 2x4's to get a decent height to see over the dash.

Re: another Oklahoma find
by the looks of the shifter its not a munci trans, looks like the old SM..something, great truck by the way, try throwing the truck in 4th gear and rocking it, that may free up the engine, throw some atf in the cylinders or down the carb before you do

Re: another Oklahoma find
That looks like a nice unmolested start, can you tell what the original door lettering was?

Re: another Oklahoma find
jim8step
From what i can read of the door is says Shawnee soil conservation and not sure what the bottom word is. 463 I have taken the heads off of the block and put some marvels down the cylinders. I am thinking of taking off the water pump and timing chain to see if that will free it up before i pull the engine out of the truck to look at the bottom end of it. |
