Shift pointer question

Are automatic shift pointers from all years the same ?
I have a 68 C10 can't locate one.

nope, 67 - 70 was one style, 71 and 72 another style, and tilt wheels had there own. On the 2 styles that were non tilt, you can swap them out, but you'll want the perndle AND the pointer as a matched set.

I have the shorter (chrome) letter housing and the taller black plastic pointer. It looks just dorky enough to be different enough to be mine. Not "proper" for sure. But you guys and I will be the only ones who will notice the difference.

And, oh yeah, the taller letter housing that fits the taller pointer didn't fit the steering column to steering wheel shroud (or whatever you call it) that it screws into (one screw on either end). The screws would fit in, but there was a gap left by a sort-of a slightly longer radius in the "shroud", I'd say. I thought that was strange. But I don't know what combo of parts/years I have. It all came to me in a pile. Luckily, I had three columns and steering wheels and, and, and....
