Water in my door.
Hi guys,
So with all these rains we've been having in Southern, CA, my Betsy is drenched. Today I opened the door and I can hear alot of water in the door, just sloshing around in the bottom. What should I do? Drill a small hole to let it out? Let it evaporate? How do I prevent this in the future? I guess it's because I have no weather stripping or molding (what's the correct term?) around the windows?

There are two drains at the bottom of the door - must be plugged up. It really helps to have the door handle removal tool - see photo below (you can find them online - I think classicparts.com had them....but probably available lots of places).
In the mean time you should be able to just use a thin stick or piece of metal and poke the holes from the bottom up and the water will flow out - long term you'll want to clean your door of the debris in there. Best, TT

Drill 1/8" holes every 4" or so in the bottom of the door. Once the water's out, remove the interior panel and scrape the sludge out from the inside. Go back in a week or so to make sure that the holes are still open.
New felts will help both the water intrusion and the window rattle. Good luck.

I would suggest NOT drilling holes. Just clean out the 2 drains that are there and make sure they stay open. New weatherstrip will help also.

You should see them just by looking up from the bottom. They are approx. 1/2" long

you know where the lip is and that is the peice of door that hangs lower they are right against that close to the front and close to the back hope that helps

Here is the tip of the day
no door handle tool remover take a old tshirt rip a section off wedge it between the door handle and door have each end in each hand move it back and forth until you feel the clip snag it and presto it will take practice but it does work and all you guys will try this tell me who gets it and ohhh yea don't drill holes in your door un plug the drain holes

For those who have not seen the drain holes. Every truck I get I take the door panels off and stuff a water hose in the door and keep the drains clear till nothing but clear water poors out. If you keep the drains clear the doors should last another 40 years.

Theres two small drain holes in the bottom of the door that needs to be cleaned out just take the door pannel off and clean out the gunk inside the door, even the new cars have these holes. New weather stripping would help but it wont completely stop it thats what the holes are for. I hope this helps.
