'72 suburban drivers door?
I'm new to the list and am in the process of rebuilding a '72 3/4 ton 4x4 suburban. My drivers side door is beyond repair and was wondering if a door off a pick-up is the same. If not, is it better to replace the skin or just purchase a complete door shell?

It is not the same. The pickup door is rounded no the top back, the burb is not.

I believe the doors body is the same. You would need to use the window frame from the subs door.

It is possible to change the window frame off of a Burb door and put it on a truck door. Burb doors are not that plentiful, but you might try a wtb on the parts board.
Good luck and welcome to the board! Jim |

I replaced both front doors on my '72 burb with new pickup doors. You need to save the square window channel like said above and replace the round pickup channel. There was a slight difference in the door latch area and I had to do just a little grinding to get a touch more clearance. I'm very happy with how it turned out.

Appreciate the replies. I have a spare parts burb with decent body but it is missing the drivers door. At least have the option of finding a decent pickup door or buy a new shell. Will keep your door in mind Wild4wheels, shipping would be expensive for such a bulky item.
